The rough-in shower mixer valve connects with hot/cold water pipes, and it has the brass fixture which control the hot and cold water; then the hot and cold water gets mixed to a comfortable warm temperature, and flow out via the rainfall shower head, tub spout or handheld shower head. How does the Rough-in Valve Work? The rough-in valve for three functional shower faucets system has 5 ports: Two inlets for the hot and cold water;Three outlets, one upper-outlet for rainfall shower head and one down-outlet for the tub spout, the side-outlet is for handheld shower head. Tip to Use Tip 1: If hot water flows in one side only, it shall have auto protection so water pressure becomes low and little water flows out fron shower head. This pressure balanced function shall protect you from suddenly hot water change. So when testing water pressure, please make sure both hot and cold water flows in valve body at the same time.
